“2021 Suzhou International Day---South Korea Theme Events & China-South Korea Symphony Night” kicked off on October 10 at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre

The year 2021 marks the start of China-South Korea Cultural Exchange Year and also the 25th anniversary of Suzhou-Jeonju friendly ties. For China and South Korea, the following year will celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.



With South Korea as its main theme, this year’s event is jointly organized by Suzhou Foreign Affairs Office, Suzhou Information Office, Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast, Television and Tourism, Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee and Korean Cultural Center (Shanghai).


Through special exhibitions, interactive activities and music performances, the event is designed to showcase the fruitful results in such fields as economy, trade, culture, education, sports, etc. and deepen the amity between Suzhou and South Korea.



Xu Kunlin, deputy secretary of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and acting governor of Jiangsu, the then member of Standing Committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, attended the opening ceremony of China-South Korea Symphony Night.


Wu Qingwen, deputy secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and acting mayor of Suzhou, and Kim Seung-Ho, consul-general of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai, delivered a speech respectively. Mayor of Jeonju Kim Seung-Su made a congratulatory speech via video.


Representatives of Suzhou and Jeonju exchanged the Memorandum of Cooperation on Friendly Exchanges for Next Five Years. Chinese and South Korean officials co-launched the “Suzhou International Day---South Korea Theme Events & China-South Korea Symphony Night”.




Suzhou has held the “International Day” series events for three consecutive years to help foreign residents integrate into local life and work, exhibit the opening-up achievements, better tell the stories of Suzhou and communicate the city’s image to a wider audience.


To enrich the playbill of this year’s event, the China-South Korea Theme Exhibition, titled “A City with Thousand-Year History, A Capital of Charm”, was held on the spot.
